First Year Experience

Welcome to Fullerton College!

The First Year Experience (FYE) is designed to help you succeed in your first year of college by providing opportunities to experience campus events and student groups, encouraging educational and career planning, introducing mindful growth strategies, and connecting you with valuable on-campus resources.

About First Year Experience

By offering dedicated FYE sections of Business, English and Math, campus events, and year-round support, the Fullerton College First Year Experience (FYE) helps our students to make stronger connections with campus life and to take advantage of the many support resources our campus offers. Our goal is to ensure all first year students at Fullerton College have everything they need to start strong and succeed in their educational and career goals.

All students are automatically part of the First Year Experience, so feel free to join our on-campus events anytime! The best way to get information and get involved is through our Canvas Page. FYE is designed to support students in their first two semesters at Fullerton College, but all are welcome to participate!

Four Key Areas of FYE

First Year Experience introduces students to the four key areas of student success at Fullerton College: Community & Cultural Connections, Career and Educational Exploration, Support Services, and Mindful Growth (mindfulness, growth mindset, and academic mindsets).

COMMUNITY & CULTURAL CONNECTIONS

Being part of a community is an important part of being a successful college student. Joining clubs, attending athletics events, and participating in orientation are some of the great ways you can become a stronger part of the FC Hornets Community.

CAREER & EDUCATIONAL EXPLORATION

Exploring careers and majors early in your college career helps you to focus your studies and graduate sooner by reducing the number of classes taken. To start strong at Fullerton College, take advantage of campus resources that help you explore opportunities to discover a major or program of study, investigate career options, complete an educational plan, and learn about furthering your education beyond Fullerton College.

SUPPORT SERVICES

Fullerton College has many amazing support services including our full-service library, Food Bank, and special student success programs like EOPS, Puente, and Umoja. These services can help you meet your educational and career goals by giving you access to research help, textbook loans, community, housing resources, and so much more.
